In 2015, Devlin Daley, co-founder of Instructure and co-creator of the Canvas LMS, went on a journey to see what challenges existed in education he could help resolve.

Turns out there are lots.

After visiting many schools and talking to dozens of teachers, Devlin discovered a very large gap existed in education technology for math educators.

Devlin paired up with former Googler, Ryan Brown, to develop one platform to streamline math instruction and improve learning outcomes.

So, Derivita was born (like a Derivative in Calculus — see what we did there?).

After navigating a global Pandemic and expanding across the country, Devlin’s and Ryan’s team continued to listen to teachers and learn.

In time, more ways were discovered to improve and simplify the instructional process. So Derivita grew to create those solutions.

Now the Derivita platform offers solutions for increasing engagement in the classroom, building Common Assessments, working in PLC’s, progress reporting for administrators, Elementary and Middle School mathematics, and more.

And we’re just getting started.
