Introducing Director of Content: Christine Lien

We asked Christine a few questions about her life inside and outside of Derivita and here are the results:

1. In 2 sentences, please describe what you do for Derivita. 

I lead a team of subject matter experts, programmers, and tech support agents. My team is responsible for the content library in the platform, including development of new content and continued improvement and maintenance of existing content.

2. What makes Derivita different from other companies in the EdTech space?

The platform is superior in its capabilities to create dynamic and engaging content. Its ability to evaluate student mathematical answers is unparalleled.

3. What is your favorite part about working at Derivita? 

What initially appealed to me about joining Derivita was the opportunity to build a better courseware product than what was out there. And I love that we let the content and the pedagogy drive the features of the platform. I love the challenge of thinking about how to leverage the technology to deliver better content.

4. What is your most listened to or your go-to song right now? 

I have a toddler, so “Baby Shark” has been on repeat a lot in my house.

5. What is your favorite part of the back-to-school season?

The fall weather. I used to live in the Midwest and every year, almost reliably within days of the first day of school, the weather shifts. There’s suddenly a crispness in the air and I can almost smell the ripening apples and the leaves turning red.
