Introducing an Account Executive: Josh Dyer

Every month we would like to introduce you to one of the many faces that make up Derivita.

At Derivita we are passionate about math, education, and bettering both the instructor’s and learner’s journeys. We are passionate about food, music, reading, baking, dancing, and everything in between. We have families and dogs and cats. We listen to Spotify and watch the latest Marvel movies - just like you!

Sunday was Father’s Day and this month we are celebrating new father and one of our amazing Account Executives: Josh Dyer!

We asked Josh a few questions about his life inside and outside of Derivita and here are the results:

1. In 2 sentences, please describe what you do for Derivita.

I’m an Account Executive at Derivita and my main responsibilities are to drive new business in both Higher-Ed and K-12 through various channels and strategic partnerships. Essentially, I’m at the tip of the spear for our sales pipeline looking to promote and introduce Derivita to new customers in our key markets.

2. What makes Derivita different from other companies in the EdTech space?

Derivita is uniquely positioned to challenge the historical textbook publishers and software providers in EdTech because of the technology infrastructure. Many competitors in this space weren’t built or designed as software providers, so the technology comes second. They built the platform upon older technologies and material which was meant to support the legacy textbook industry. Derivita was built to provide educators and students with the best technology possible. Because it wasn’t built upon legacy technology, Derivita can actually provide a seamless experience within the learning environment that is not matched anywhere else in the industry.

3. What is your favorite part of working at Derivita?

The people for sure. This company is full of people who are passionate about what we do. The collaboration between teams is something I have never experienced and it’s really impressive.

4. What is your most listened to or your go-to song right now?

I know it may be unpopular to say this, but I don’t really don’t listen to much music anymore. I have officially become the old man that doesn’t understand what the kids are into. I mostly listen to podcasts and audiobooks.

5. What is the best thing about being a father?

People often say that having children changes you and they are absolutely correct. I get so much joy watching my son experience and learn new things daily. He is curious about everything, which I love. I get to experience that curiosity through his eyes. Intellectually, I knew I would love my child, but I had no idea how deeply that could impact me. I’m also lucky because I have an amazing wife and I didn’t know that this experience could make me love her more. Watching her as a mother has been truly amazing.
