This is a mission that benefits all. But today we’re focusing on four main groups who can find the most success with Derivita:

  1. Instructors

Instructors

Derivita was built with the complications that come with teaching math online at the forefront of each of our products. This includes formatting, writing out formulas, creating customized and randomized questions, and providing feedback.

Assessment Assembly is easy with pulling curated questions from our Content Library. Our Math Question Bank has 40,000+ questions, covering everything from elementary math to Calculus III. We update our bank every two weeks based on your personal feedback and requests. Derivita offers automated question randomization, the ability to add in different types of media including images and video, as well as show students fully worked-out solutions.

When you’re done crafting your assignment, you can choose how you want to deliver the assignment by turning it into a printable worksheet, making it a homework assignment, an interactive challenge for the start of an in-person class, or a remotely proctored exam.

We even make
grading easy, which is helpful when you have 100+ students in a college-level algebra course. You can review submitted assessments by course, class, or individually and then provide automated or manual feedback  right within the Derivita platform.

Students

Students can access Derivita by simply signing into their existing Learning Management System (LMS) like
Canvas or Blackboard. No additional log-in’s or registrations necessary. They may not even be able to tell they are in the Derivita platform, since they never have to leave the LMS.

But that’s just the first perk. Showing written work for math homework and tests has never been easier with the
“Show Work” feature. They can simply take a picture of their scratch work and upload it to their Derivita math assignment. You can review this written work side-by-side with the student’s online answers by clicking on each student individually or scrolling through the submitted assignments.

Students get
immediate and meaningful feedback during the online math exam in the form of a “nudge”. This is a small hint that will appear after a student attempts to answer a question. It lets them know they are close to the correct answer but need to make a few adjustments. This improves their understanding of the math concepts and overall content.

School Admins

Derivita is an online math tool that stays within the existing LMS. By keeping everything in one system, things stay more organized at a course, institution, and system level.

Another win for administrators and math directors is that Derivita’s
Content Library is aligned to OpenStax math titles and can be used with any existing textbook or open education resource.

With Derivita’s Common Assessment features including the ability to copy and paste math assignments and exam settings, school systems can streamline math content across the board. This makes it easier to set a district-wide, or even state-wide, standard for math curriculum that can be easily met by multiple schools.

Parents

With tools like
SpotCheck encouraging easy and active participation with both online and in-person math classes, parents can be assured that their kids are getting the attention they need to succeed.

As an instructor, you are able to provide meaningful feedback to your students or allow the software to provide automated nudges or hints during the exam. This ability allows you to let your students’ parents know that you are actively identifying and patching knowledge gaps as well as steadily progressing your students to the next math course.

Math instruction and learning are adapting to online and hybrid courses. This means that you, instructors, need a set of digital tools that also adapt to your teaching style and the evolving math curriculum.
