Utilizing SpotCheck as a Daily Formative Assessment

So what if Derivita made creating, managing, and deploying these formative assessments quick and simple?

Well, that’s just what we did with SpotCheck.

What is SpotCheck?

SpotCheck allows you to project a single or set of questions on the board for the whole class to see. Then with a simple URL and their preferred device (mobile phone, tablet, or laptop), students can respond to the question in real-time. 

Derivita then automatically grades their responses. The teacher can then project all the responses, identified as incorrect or correct by Derivita, on the board. The teacher can also see all the students who didn’t participate. The students can then see their own thought process compared to that of their peers and compared to the fully worked-out solution projected. 

This process can ignite meaningful group discussions with the entire class or with groups of students. The students can then attempt a slightly varied problem with the same concept following the discussion to ensure mastery of the given concept.
